Report: Interview with Yeoman Toscha Vayandar By: Star Raven for MGBN

Report: Interview with Yeoman Toscha Vayandar
By: Star Raven

Hello is this thing on? Bit quit messing with my programming! Er... sorry boss. AH I MEAN STARK! Yes Mr. Stark.

Sorry Bit (Binary Interview Technology) is my companion. It serves as a camera & recording device. It's usually seen as a blue floating dock thingy next my head.

Well anyway as the newest reporter for Mars Global Broadcasting Network, I decided as a new citizen of VASC Mars Base, I wanted to get to know everyone around me. So I started with my neighbors!

I was just outside (in full space suit of course) talking in the sights of VASC Base with Bit, when Yeoman Toscha Vayandar (whom we met yesterday) ran up to me. The Yeoman wanted to give a tour of Mars on his Fighter, which I thought was perfect interview material, also giving me a great view!

-Begin Interview-

*As we take off.*

SR: Sweet spacecraft got here Toscha! And thank you for inviting me ㋡

TV: No problem. So, you said you were doing interviews, what would you like to know?

SR: A bit about Mars I guess how was made why was formed, and how do people live on it? What goes on in their day-to-day lives? Other than being very red & dusty, I think Mars has a lot of charm ㋡

*Is promptly wowed by awesome flying skills.*

TV: Well, alot of our lives day to day are standard maintinence checks, security patrols, and CAP.

SR: What is CAP?l

TV: Combat Air Patrol. *Waves hand around* Like this.

SR: Who are we defending against? Why would anyone want to attack us?

TV: Well, the D'naa mostly.

SR: Who are they?

TV: The D'naa are the indiginous settlers that came before VASC ever set foot here. To them, we're intruding.

SR: Why can't we all just come to some agreement? Mars is big enough for all of us ㋡

TV: I don't know. I think they tried but the D'naa are violent.

SR: *Laughs nervously* I hope not towards reporters :o

*We stop at the Gemini complex.*

TV: Sec, got an odd hum.

SR: No problem. *Pokes Bit into a small fuss (what he is my "baby"), as Yeoman Toscha run a diagnostic.*

TV: Hmmm. Let's see if that works. *He restarts the Fighter.*

SR: Is everything running smoothly? *Yes I'm still glued to the window Oohing and Ahhing at the sights.*

TV: Atmospheric flying is a whole different ballgame than space.

SR: How So? Compensating for physics, gravity?

TV: In space, you don't have wind shear, all this dust, and especially gravity affecting your craft.

SR: Ah. You love to fly don't you Private? *semi-distracted still looking out the window. (Sorry Mr. Stark, it was the best ride ever!)*

TV: That's Yeoman to you, and yes.

SR: *stutters* I'm sorry. Yeoman. And very cool.. I think my flying skills are somewhat... er crashy at best. Do you live on Mars Base?

TV: Yeah I live in the VASC base.

SR: Which would you say is your most favorite part of the base?

TV: I don't really know. it's all the same part to me. I've been here so long.

*As we keep talking, warning lights start to blink, as an alarm sounds in the cockpit.*

TV: Ah shit!

SR: No favorite room.... Er.. whats wrong? Bit don't panic little buddy. (As really I am panicking slightly)

Bit: YES.

TV: Engine malfuntion. Dust got on there. We're gonna have to punch out!

SR: Oh my!

TV: You go first, I'll be right behind you! *As the fighter begins to swirl.*

SR: Are you sure?! *Gets ready to punch the button.* Please be careful Yeoman!

TV: And yeah! NOW!

SR: OK HERE I GO! *Punches button. Goes flying up high into the air, then a parachute opens.* AAAAAAHHHHHH!!!

Bit: *Says something snarky in Binary about my moaning & yelling.*

SR: BIT EAT MY SHORTS! *I say floating to the ground.*

Bit: YES!

SR: (As I land, I notice the Yeoman is right next to me, safe and with his gun drawn.) Well that was an adventure ㋡

TV: Ok, we made it!

SR: Guess will have to walk back? *Looks off into the distance and sees the Base far off.*

TV: Well, let's get back to base. Yeah, stay close to me.

SR: Cool ok ㋡!

TV: For all we know the D'naa might be on patrol.

As we walked through dunes, sand, and old equipment, Yeoman Toscha Vayandar keeps a look out as I follow. Bit, ever helpful, hides behind my back.

We finally make it back to VASC Base in one piece, and breathes a sigh of relief in the airlock.

SR: Yeah we made it! (I feel the need for a high five, but I don't think its appropriate for his superiors to see. So I sadly had to restrain myself.)

TV: For a civilian you handled that well.

SR: Glad I had a very good teacher! Also glad we didn't run into anything!

TV: Well, you should get some rest. Even in the lighter gravity of Mars, ejections still wreak havok on your body.

SR: This was one exciting first interview Yeoman!

TV: Heh. Maybe one day you'll get to know me even better ;P

SR: Indeed, (Bit says somethign snarky to me in binary again, but I ignore it) but I'm a cyborg Yeoman, I'm sure my implants will do fine. I hope so, I'll make my report in my quarters, I guess you have your own report to file. I'll see you later Yeoman?

TV: Indeed.

-End Interview-

So that was my first report for MGBN! Thank you for reading and stay safe out there Martians!

Star Raven Out!

_End Report...

Bit did you really need to record that last part?

Bit: YES

That was kinda private and embarassing. I swear what is your major malfunction? Wait...  Are you still recording? I said end report!

-End Report-
